I had my hummingbird feeder up last spring, but didn't see any birds, so eventually I took it down. (I wasn't interested in feeding the ants.) Then last Saturday I noticed a hummingbird hovering around the deck. So I got busy and made some sugar water, dug out my feeder and put it up. I'd barely gotten back into the house when I noticed a hummer on the feeder. And there were visitors for the rest of that day and most of Sunday. None yesterday. I'm trying to be patient.
(Addendum: The hummers are still coming. I'll add photos as I get them.)

We have been having a lot of rain recently - not storms, just hard rain with no wind. I have a lower area of my back yard that becomes a lake when we have rain like that. One afternoon it started pouring here a little after 5:00. The lake in my back yard started to reappear.
On one of my trips to the kitchen window to check on the lake's progress, I noticed this hummer sitting on the the feeder with his head back so his beak was straight up in the air. Drinking the downpour???
And later on, another one...
After the rain...
